Leadership at SED Consultants

SED Consultants has two full time members of staff. It is led by Carlo Chege as the Country Leader and Jackson Wachira as the Seniour Consultant. We also have associate consultants who are seasoned professionals in various fields spanning from enterprise development, financing and financial management, project management, education and training, and leadership. Carlo Chege, Country Leader

Carlo has many years of experience in the not-for profit sector and social enterprises. He has been involved in finance, project and grant management, capacity building and fund raising. He has a passion for training and has received training on the use of dialogue education for adult learners.

He has a Master of Science in Entrepreneurship from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Education also from the University of Nairobi. He is a certified on-line facilitator with the Chalmers Centre for Economic Development in areas of microenterprise development and microfinance. He is also a great advocate of financial education for both the poor and the rich.

He is a member of the African Social Entrepreneurs Network (ASEN) in South Africa and Kenya Institute of Management (KIM). Carlo has also been a Lecturer at KCA University, a project auditor and finance trainer at CARE International Somalia/South Sudan, regional program manager for Africa at MMD Africa and head of finance, grants and capacity building at CMS Africa. He is also a trainer for CORAT Africa, Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization (KUSCCO) and online facilitator for Chalmers Centre.

Carlo has a passion to see equity in society and he hopes to see social enterprises competing successfully and lead the agenda for change in the business arena globally.

Jackson N. Wachira,    Seniour Consultant

Mr. Jackson Wachira joined SED Consultants as a Seniour Consultant in May 2010.

Mr. Wachira has experience in Community and SME/Microfinance Development.  He  has a cumulative 20 years hands on experience in learning programs design and management, training, project design and implementation, monitoring of youth entrepreneurship programs, management and provision of administrative/business development services to Educational and Community Development institutions. He has experience in the design and management of integrated community entrepreneurship and capacity building programs. He has worked at Eastleigh Community Centre where he was involved with youth vocational training, vulnerable child education and counseling.  He was the College Principal of Kenya Institute of Social Work and Community Development (KISWCD). He led the development and implementation of training programs targeting community social workers, vulnerable youth and prisoners, management of teaching and non-teaching staff and overall management and administration. Among his many achievements is the participation in the community development policy document formulation for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Services that will be used for the next five years.  He is also a member of the Rapid Response Initiative (RRI) team on rehabilitation of prison inmates at the Kenya Prison Service headquarters and has been involved in training prisoners who are completing their sentences on Business Start up skills. Mr. Wachira is in his final year at Daystar University pursuing a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Community Development and Business Administration from the same university.

 

Associate Consultants (some profiles)

Peter Nduati

He is the Founding Director of Africa Turnaround and is a Financial Educator, Coach, and Consultant. He is experienced in development and implementation of financial education curriculum and support materials. He amongst other projects was recently contracted to develop a financial education curriculum and implementation strategy for an internationally funded projected now being implemented through Faulu Kenya. This is a pilot project whose success will determine the national financial education strategy for Kenya and other countries. Author and Publisher of the animated MBA-4-KIDS Financial Tales Volume 1 DVD, a financial training tool for children which is the first of its kind in Kenya; How to Raise Money Smart Kids Vol. 1 and 2 aimed at equipping parents with skills that enable them to raise financially intelligent, responsible and successful children; Author of Power to Produce Wealth: 10 kingdom principles of personal wealth creation (2008) and exclusive personal finance and investments columnist with the real men magazine where he educates men on how to create wealth. 

Flacia W. Nyamu

Flacia W. Nyamu holds an MBA with a specialisation in Governance and Management of Micro and Small Enterprises from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute / Maastricht School of Management in Nairobi, Kenya and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Design Practice from the University of Salford, Salford, UK. She also holds a Diploma in Clothing Technology from the Kenya Polytechnic in Nairobi, Kenya. In addition she has relevant professional training in export trade, training skills and volunteer management.

She is an Enterprise Development / Capacity Building Expert with over thirteen years of combined experience in championing and implementing enterprise development and creative arts projects /programmes in the private sector, vocational institutions and community based organisations. She has hands-on experience of managing own business and is keen on developing enterprise and training enhancement models that widens the scope of skills and knowledge.  She is conversant with the diverse transition capacity building programs that meets entrepreneurs’ goals and objectives and has proven management and technical support skills of stalled, ongoing and pilot programs running independently and simultaneously to achieve organisations objectives. She has good analytical, leadership and communication skills and a predisposition in Project Monitoring and Evaluation. 

Flacia has provided professional services in Enterprise Development and entrepreneurship training services for a variety of clients including the Malawian Ministry of Trade and Private Sector Development (Small and Medium Enterprise Division), the Commonwealth Secretariat and Volunteer Services Overseas (VSO) amongst others.

EVANS NJORO

Evans has solid experience with entrepreneurship, leadership, financial literacy and workforce readiness programs. He has hands-on experience in strategic leadership and NGO governance; program development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting; fundraising and resource mobilization, proposal preparation; building relationships and managing partnerships; marketing and knowledge management; and training and capacity building.  He has previously served as Regional Director, Eastern and Southern Africa, JA Worldwide® – Africa Region and Country Director, Junior Achievement Kenya. He has also served as Program Administrator, Enterprise Advisory Services, PricewaterhouseCoopers. He is an alumni of the Executive Development Program of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA, holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Nairobi and completed his Certified Public Accountant studies at Strathmore University, School of Business. He is Founder and Chairman, Futures Infinite Company Ltd, Alumni, Africa-America Institute, Member, American Chamber of Commerce in Kenya and International Advisory Board Member, Workforce Development Global Alliance.
